Description
The self-locking thread inserts are especially useful in applications where vibration and shocks are frequently present.
They are colored red to distinguish them from the standard type, it is recommended to match them only with galvanized or lubricated screws and bolts.
Are manufactured in drawn stainless steel polished and cold worked, they features precise tolerances in order to obtain a high quality internal thread, which withstand extreme temperatures, corrosion, friction, seizing and reach a tensile strength of more than 1380 MP.
After inserting the thread adapts itself to the seat and its position is maintained by the action of the radial pressure between the coils and the sides of the tapped hole; such pressure subsist because their diameter is calibrated before assembly to be larger than a certain value of the diameter once inserted.
Advantages:
Low cost
Better distribution of pressure loads.
Blemish compensation of pitch angle and flank angle.
Make possible the use of smaller and short threads even in low-strength materials.
Vibration and strain resistant.
Lighter and cheaper than the equivalent rivet nuts.
Can be used in projects even where there was no previous plan for their use.
Good results in thin sections or soft materials.
Internal friction eliminated, this allows you to assemble and disassemble without compromising tightness.
How to install the Eliriv
Drill a hole with diameter and depth as stated in tables.
Tap the hole with depth and measure class as stated in tables.
Calibrate the hole using a special mandrel for threads.
Install the thread at the required depth with a hand or an automatic tool.
Cut the pin after inserting, with a neat hammer hit.
Calibrate the thread using a common mandrel for threads.
Installation info
1: Drilling, 2: Tapping, 3: Installation
To get the best efficiency from the thread, the inserts must be mounted between 1/2 and 1 pitch below the surface of the tapped hole. Given the helical nature of the thread the length of the inserts is difficult to measure; the effective length of all threads mounted is equal to the nominal minus 1/2 pitch.
